HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the congregation 
4
of the Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral (PLGWC) on the 
5
occasion of the dedication of the James Benjamin Alford Bible 
6
Institute; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The Rev. Dr. James Benjamin Alford, born on May 3, 
8
1906, served as Pastor of the Progressive Life-Giving Word 
9
Cathedral (formerly known as the Progressive Church of God in 
10
Christ) from 1941 to 1983; he developed a sterling reputation 
11
within his community as a man of great wisdom and a remarkable 
12
husband, father, community leader, and proponent of education; 
13
he also dedicated many decades of service to the Village of 
14
Maywood; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, The Progressive Life-Giving Word Cathedral will 
16
officially dedicate the James Benjamin Alford Bible Institute 
17
during a ceremony in the church's main sanctuary on May 26, 
18
2009 at 7:30 P.M.; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, The Rev. Dr. James Benjamin Alford's legacy of 
20
piety, charity, and dedication will be continued through the 
21
generation of students taught through the James Benjamin Alford 
22
Bible Institute; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
congratulate the congregation of the Progressive Life-Giving 
4
Word Cathedral on the occasion of the dedication of the James 
5
Benjamin Alford Bible Institute and wish them continued success 
6
and happiness in their future endeavors; and be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the congregation of the Progressive Life-Giving 
9
Word Cathedral as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
