HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Linda McDermott, 
4
Clerk of the Village of Roselle, on her retirement; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, She was appointed to the position by former Mayor 
6
Sandra Birdsall in 1987; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, She is a 35-year resident of Roselle and the 
8
mother of three; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, In 2002, she was honored by former Lieutenant 
10
Governor Corinne Wood as one of the Illinois Women of 
11
Achievement for her exemplary commitment to public service; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, She loves her community and can always be seen at 
13
the Rose Festival, the July 4th Festivities, Concerts in the 
14
Park, the Main Street Market, and the Taste of Roselle; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, She volunteers at the Roselle United Methodist 
16
Church, where she is involved in refugee resettlement and child 
17
advocacy; in addition, she  volunteers at Friends of the Library 
18
and Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS); she has served on 
19
the Rose Queen Pageant Committee, the Fire Pension Board, the 
20
TIF Commission, the Character Counts Coalition, the Taste of

Roselle Commission, the Sister Cities Commission, the Board of 
2
Directors of the American Cancer Society as the communications 
3
chairman, particularly Relay for Life, the
Campanelli YMCA, 
4
where she served on the Executive Committee as Secretary, 
5
Member at Large, and is currently Treasurer;
and she 
6
represented the Village of Roselle as part of a traveling 
7
delegation to Roselle's sister city, Bochnia, Poland; and
 
8
    WHEREAS, She has been a member of the DuPage Municipal 
9
Clerks since 1988, serving as President from June of 2000 
10
through June of 2001; and she has been a member of the 
11
North/Northwest Cook County Municipal Clerks since 1988; 
12
therefore, be it

 
13
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
14
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
15
congratulate Linda McDermott and wish her the best in her 
16
future endeavors; and be it further

 
17
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18
presented to Linda McDermott as a symbol of our respect and 
19
esteem.
