| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrea Andrada served as the Student Member of |
| 3 |
| the Elgin Community College Board from April, 2008 to April, |
| 4 |
| 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada has shown a strong commitment to Elgin |
| 6 |
| Community College and helped bring the school closer to its |
| 7 |
| vision of being the best community college in the nation; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada has earned the respect of her student |
| 9 |
| constituents and board members alike through her passion and |
| 10 |
| loyalty to serving others; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada is known among her peers as a role |
| 12 |
| model and advocate who takes the time to hear student concerns |
| 13 |
| and then shares feedback to the Board; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada has demonstrated outstanding written |
| 15 |
| and verbal communication skills in compiling monthly student |
| 16 |
| activities reports and reporting on them for the Board of |
| 17 |
| Trustees; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada has shown diligence by her |
| 19 |
| participation in pre-referendum (ENCORE) and referendum |
| 20 |
| activities by serving on the buildings and grounds committee, |
|
|

| sharing information with Student Government and Club Council, |
| 2 |
| and participating in meetings with State and federal |
| 3 |
| legislators to explain the need of campus expansion; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada is a supporter of a diverse campus |
| 5 |
| environment and holds membership in Student Government, Phi |
| 6 |
| Theta Kappa International Honor Society, United Students of All |
| 7 |
| Cultures, Asian Filipino Club, Organization of Latin American |
| 8 |
| Students, Spanish Club, and the Ultimate Frisbee Club; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada has shown benevolence by initiating |
| 10 |
| and organizing a campus-wide collection for Kaibigan |
| 11 |
| International, an amazing endeavor in which she traveled to the |
| 12 |
| Philippines with hundreds of toys to give to underprivileged |
| 13 |
| children on behalf of Elgin Community College; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada is an active member of the Illinois |
| 15 |
| Community College Board Student Advisory Committee (ICCB-SAC), |
| 16 |
| serving as the student representative on the Program Advisory |
| 17 |
| Committee; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada, as the student representative on the |
| 19 |
| Program Advisory Committee, has initiated a community outreach |
| 20 |
| program across the State to highlight the issues and promote |
| 21 |
| awareness of Autism by holding information seminars and |
| 22 |
| fund-raising activities at community colleges statewide; and
|
|

| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada maintains high scholarly standards |
| 2 |
| and has earned a perfect 4.0 GPA at Elgin Community College as |
| 3 |
| well as been named to the All USA Academic First Team and is |
| 4 |
| the Illinois Century Scholar as a result of her stellar |
| 5 |
| academic record, community endeavors and campus involvement; |
| 6 |
| and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Andrada has grown tremendously as a leader |
| 8 |
| during the past year, experiencing conferences in Washington, |
| 9 |
| D.C., student trustee meetings, lobby days, numerous Board |
| 10 |
| meetings, and earning the prestigious Gigi Campbell Student |
| 11 |
| Trustee Excellence Award; therefore, be it
|
| 12 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 14 |
| congratulate Ms. Andrea Andrada on her time of service on the |
| 15 |
| Elgin Community College Board and wish her the best in all her |
| 16 |
| future endeavors; and be it further
|
| 17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 |
| presented to Ms. Andrea Andrada as a symbol of our respect and |
| 19 |
| esteem.
