HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Marshall High 
4
School boys basketball team, the Lions, on an impressive 
5
season; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, The Lions had a season record of 32 wins and one 
7
loss, setting a school record for most wins in a season (32) 
8
and most consecutive wins (31); it was also the first time in 
9
school history that varsity, junior varsity, and the 
10
freshmen-sophomore team finished the season undefeated; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, The Lions were the Capital Classic Champions and 
12
the Wabash Valley Pizza Hut Classic Champions in 2008; the 
13
Little Illini Conference Champions in 2008-2009; the LIC 
14
Tournament Champions, the St. Anthony Regional Champions, the 
15
Robinson Sectional Champions, and the Western Illinois 
16
University Super-sectional Champions, all in 2009; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, The Lions are ranked #3 in the State 2A Final 
18
Illinois High School Association poll and the Associated Press 
19
poll and finished third in the State Championships; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, The Head Coach of the Lions is Tom Brannan; the 
21
Assistant Coaches are Chris Kessler and Pat Duncan; and the

team managers are Harold Dominick, Jason Mason, and Logan 
2
Swalls; and

    WHEREAS, The members of the Marshall Lions are: Logan 
4
Eitel, Ethan Delp, Jacob Duncan, Austin Wetnight, Jordan 
5
Grooms, Trey Brashear, Lucas Eitel, Jake Tucker, Logan Cannady, 
6
Taylor Duncan, Dalton Sanders, Dustin Morey, and Tyler Bishop; 
7
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10
congratulate the coaching staff, managers, and team of the 
11
Marshall Lions boys basketball team and wish them the best in 
12
the future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to the Marshall Lions as a symbol of our respect.
