1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2 WHEREAS, The general public as well as conservation and

3 constituent organizations strongly support the efforts of the

4 Illinois Department of Natural Resources to support, enhance,

5 and protect the natural resources of the State of Illinois

6 through management and education programs; and

7 WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of the natural

8 resources of the State for the Department to work and

9 communicate openly with all Illinois citizens; and

10 WHEREAS, The Conservation Congress is to propose and

11 advocate actions by elected and appointed officials to protect

12 and conserve the natural resources of the State; and

13 WHEREAS, The Conservation Congress is to ensure through

14 professional management that the recreational opportunities

15 associated with these resources and the sustainable use and

16 enjoyment of these resources remain available for this and

17 future generations; and

18 WHEREAS, The Department has expressed renewed interest in

19 reinstituting the Conservation Congress to improve

20 communication with Illinois constituents regarding common

21 issues of concern; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

2 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

3 support the re-establishment of the Conservation Congress to

4 assist in the protection, conservation, education, and

5 appropriate use of the natural, recreational, and cultural

6 resources of the State; and be it further

7 RESOLVED, That we support and encourage the Illinois

8 Department of Natural Resources to convene the Conservation

9 Congress in a manner and time frame permitted by the

10 Department's monetary and personnel resources; and be it

11 further

12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution shall be

13 delivered to the Director of Natural Resources and the Governor

14 of the State of Illinois.
