| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Norman R. Buecker | ||||||
| 4 | for his 60 years of dedicated service as a member of the | ||||||
| 5 | Masonic Fraternity; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Norman Buecker was born on January 2, 1925; he is | ||||||
| 7 | the owner of Norman's Plumbing & Heating in Springfield; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Norman Buecker began his long tenure with the | ||||||
| 9 | Masonic Fraternity when he petitioned Tyrian Lodge 333 of | ||||||
| 10 | Springfield, where he was raised as a Master Mason on February | ||||||
| 11 | 23, 1949; he quickly became an active member in the fraternity, | ||||||
| 12 | joining the Valley of Springfield Ancient Accepted Scottish | ||||||
| 13 | Rite (AASR) on April 18, 1949, the Springfield Chapter of the | ||||||
| 14 | Royal Arch Masons on October 26, 1960, the Springfield Council | ||||||
| 15 | of the Royal Select Masters on October 28, 1960, and the Elwood | ||||||
| 16 | Commandery of the Knights Templar on January 2, 1961; he was | ||||||
| 17 | coroneted as a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite on September 30, 1970; | ||||||
| 18 | and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Norman Buecker has served in numerous positions of | ||||||
| 20 | authority within the Masonic Fraternity; he served as Most Wise | ||||||
| 21 | Master of the Springfield Chapter Rose Croix AASR from 1973 to | ||||||
| 22 | 1975; he served as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Illinois | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Ancient Free and Accepted Masons (AF & AM) from 1979 to 1981 | ||||||
| 2 | and as Grand Treasurer of Grand Lodge from 1981 to 1988; he | ||||||
| 3 | became an active member of the Supreme Council, Sovereign Grand | ||||||
| 4 | Inspector General of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction in 1981, | ||||||
| 5 | becoming the council's Grand Treasurer General in 1989; he | ||||||
| 6 | served as Deputy of the State of Illinois, Illinois Council of | ||||||
| 7 | Deliberation of the AASR from 1992 to 2001; he has also served | ||||||
| 8 | as a Grand Lecturer of the Grand Lodge of Illinois AF & AM and | ||||||
| 9 | is a Past Chairman of the Grand Lodge's Board of Grand | ||||||
| 10 | Examiners; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Norman Buecker has been the recipient of numerous | ||||||
| 12 | accolades from the Masons, including the Meritorious Service | ||||||
| 13 | Award, which he received on June 1, 1965; he was also the | ||||||
| 14 | recipient of the DeMolay Honorary Legion of Honor; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Norman Buecker serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
| 16 | integrity, and dedication to his fellow Masons and the people | ||||||
| 17 | of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 19 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 20 | congratulate Norman R. Buecker for his 60 years of dedicated | ||||||
| 21 | service as a member of the Masonic Fraternity and wish him | ||||||
| 22 | continued success and happiness in the years to come; and be it | ||||||
| 23 | further
