| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Lannie |
| 4 |
| LeGear of Chicago, who passed away on March 7, 2009; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Lannie LeGear earned her doctorate in educational |
| 6 |
| psychology and special education from the University of |
| 7 |
| Southern California and completed the family therapy training |
| 8 |
| program at Northwestern University's Family Institute; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Lannie LeGear was originally from St. Louis, |
| 10 |
| Missouri; she taught at Purdue University for three years |
| 11 |
| before coming to Chicago in the 1970s; after arriving in |
| 12 |
| Chicago, she taught at St. Xavier and Roosevelt Universities; |
| 13 |
| she served as clinical director at The Cove School for children |
| 14 |
| with learning disabilities in the early 1980s; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, After her stint at The Cove School, Lannie LeGear |
| 16 |
| went into private practice; from her home office, she worked |
| 17 |
| with kids suffering from attention-deficit disorder, learning |
| 18 |
| disabilities, and developmental disorders; she was a stalwart |
| 19 |
| advocate for the children she assessed and backed parents who |
| 20 |
| often were rebuffed in their efforts to get help; and |
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Lannie LeGear was the board chair of the Community |
