| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The naming of school buildings, facilities, and |
| 3 |
| grounds is an important matter that deserves thoughtful |
| 4 |
| attention; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, The naming of buildings and other facilities in a |
| 6 |
| school district provides an opportunity to recognize the |
| 7 |
| contributions of individuals or groups to education and to the |
| 8 |
| life of communities or to recognize the significance of the |
| 9 |
| neighborhood area or community where a school resides; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of all of this State's |
| 11 |
| citizens for school districts to establish an equitable process |
| 12 |
| by which local individuals can continue to assume their |
| 13 |
| responsibility for naming school facilities; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, In recognition that the name for a school |
| 15 |
| building, facility, or ground reflects on its public image, the |
| 16 |
| primary consideration of school districts and individuals in |
| 17 |
| selecting names or renaming buildings, facilities, or grounds |
| 18 |
| should be in a manner that enhances the credibility and stature |
| 19 |
| of the school building, facility, or ground; therefore, be it
