HOUSE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives wish to congratulate the Bolingbrook High 
4
School Lady Raiders girls basketball team on becoming the 2009 
5
Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 4A State girls 
6
basketball champions; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, In a rematch of the 2008 Class 4A title game, the 
8
Lady Raiders won their second IHSA girls basketball 
9
championship by defeating Chicago-Whitney Young by a score of 
10
53-29 on March 7, 2009, at Redbird Arena in Normal; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, The Lady Raiders finished the season with a final 
12
record of 25-4, appeared in the State basketball tournament for 
13
the fifth straight year, and set a girls basketball record by 
14
becoming the first team to reach the title game four 
15
consecutive years; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, The members of the team are seniors Satavia Taylor 
17
and Candace Nevels; juniors Ashley Oliver, Mercedes Griffin, 
18
Nicosia Henry, and Chanyere Hosey; sophomores Taylor Tuck, 
19
Ariel Massengale, Ciera Howard, and Falon Edwards; freshmen 
20
Charosnese Williams, Delacy Anderson, and Morgan Tuck; and the 
21
team captains are Morgan Tuck, Satavia Taylor, and Candace 
22
Nevels; and

    WHEREAS, The Lady Raiders are led by eighth-year head coach 
2
Anthony Smith and assistant coaches Carter Larry, Evan Bercot, 
3
Clarence Simmons, Lauren Martens, Jeneč Graham, Corie Basset, 
4
Matt Holt, Aaron Woods, and Willie Smith; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, In addition to the players and coaches, our 
6
congratulations are also extended to superintendent Dr. 
7
Phillip Schoffstall, principal James Mitchem, Jr., athletic 
8
director Alec Anderson, and trainers Gina Younce and Mattie 
9
Kaminskas; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12
congratulate the Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders girls 
13
basketball team on becoming the 2009 IHSA Class 4A Girls 
14
Basketball Champions and for their class and professionalism 
15
and wish the team well in their future endeavors; and be it
