HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate the librarians and 
4
staff of the Naperville Public Library on receiving 5 Stars 
5
from the new Library Journal Index of Public Library Service; 
6
and

 
7
    WHEREAS, The Library Journal Index of Public Library 
8
Service was unveiled on February 17, 2009 and ranked 7,115 
9
libraries across the country; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, The Naperville Library had already earned a number 
11
one ranking in the Hennen's American Public Library Ratings 
12
(HAPLR) system, another national ranking system; the library is 
13
the only one in the United States to earn that ranking nine 
14
times; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, In addition, the Library also ranked high in a 
16
community-wide survey; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, More than 4.3 million items are checked out of the 
18
Naperville Public Library annually; more than 1.5 million 
19
people walk through the doors of the three buildings that make 
20
up the Naperville Public Library facilities; and

    WHEREAS, In earning 5 Stars the Library is in an exclusive 
2
category: only one percent of the libraries in the country got 
3
a five-star rating, and only ten libraries in the State of 
4
Illinois got any stars; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate the librarians and staff of the Naperville Public 
8
Library on this award and thank them for their service to the 
9
community; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11
presented to the librarians and staff of the Naperville Public 
12
Library as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
