| WHEREAS, Madelyn McGlynn, an esteemed resident of |
| 3 |
| Belleville and an exceptional student at Our Lady Queen of |
| 4 |
| Peace High School, has achieved national recognition for |
| 5 |
| exemplary volunteer service by receiving a 2009 Prudential |
| 6 |
| Spirit of Community Award; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential |
| 8 |
| Financial in partnership with the National Association of |
| 9 |
| Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across |
| 10 |
| America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to |
| 11 |
| serving their communities; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Madelyn McGlynn earned this award by co-founding |
| 13 |
| an annual art contest for the Belleville Area Humane Society |
| 14 |
| when she was in the third grade, and has served as its |
| 15 |
| co-chairman since that time; as a volunteer for the Humane |
| 16 |
| Society she witnessed firsthand the need for help from the |
| 17 |
| community in caring for abused and homeless animals; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Madelyn concentrated on elementary school |
| 19 |
| students and decided to teach them abused and homeless animal |
| 20 |
| issues in a fun way; she creates a theme for the art contest, |
| 21 |
| writes the rules, persuade schools to participate, solicits |
| 22 |
| business sponsorships, and presents prizes to the winners; and
