| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Harold |
| 4 |
| Ray Ponder of Hammond, who passed away on October 26, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Harold Ray Ponder was born on December 12, 1944 in |
| 6 |
| Decatur, the son of Ray and Maude Eskridge Ponder; he married |
| 7 |
| Katana Sue Flanagan on April 12, 1973 in Arcola; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, He was a farmer and sold crop insurance for CF&H |
| 9 |
| Insurance; he was the former mayor of Hammond; he was a former |
| 10 |
| member and past president of the Atwood-Hammond School Board; |
| 11 |
| he served on the Hammond Mutual Drainage District Board; Mr. |
| 12 |
| Ponder formerly owned and operated Ponder Seed Company; and he |
| 13 |
| was a member of the Hammond United Methodist Church; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Harold Ray Ponder is survived by his wife, Katana; |
| 16 |
| his sons, James Ponder and his wife, Jennifer and Josh Ponder |
| 17 |
| and his wife, Becky; his daughter, Kris Wagner and her husband, |
| 18 |
| Calvin; his brother, Joe Ponder; and his granddaughters,
Alex |
| 19 |
| and Gabrielle; therefore, be it
