Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that a municipality with a population between 9,000 and 30,000 (instead of 25,000) that lies within a single county with a population between 400,000 and 575,000 may levy an annual tax for ambulance services. Effective immediately.

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by |
| 5 | | changing Section 11-5-7.1 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (65 ILCS 5/11-5-7.1) (from Ch. 24, par. 11-5-7.1)
|
| 7 | | Sec. 11-5-7.1. The corporate authorities of any |
| 8 | | municipality which: (1)
has a population between 10,000 and |
| 9 | | 45,000 and
lies within 2 counties with
respective populations |
| 10 | | between 400,000 and 575,000 and between 900,000 and
1,000,000; |
| 11 | | or (2) has a population between 9,000
and 30,000 25,000 and |
| 12 | | lies within a
single county with a population between 400,000 |
| 13 | | and 575,000, may levy an
annual tax at a rate not exceeding |
| 14 | | .095% of the value, as equalized and
assessed by the Department |
| 15 | | of Revenue, of all taxable property therein, for
the purpose of |
| 16 | | providing ambulance services pursuant to an intergovernmental
|
| 17 | | cooperation agreement with any other unit of local government. |
| 18 | | However,
no tax may be levied pursuant to this Section with |
| 19 | | respect to any property
which is subject to any other tax |
| 20 | | levied for the purpose of providing ambulance
services.
