SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 		













20 ILCS 2805/2.08 new










    Amends the Department of Veterans Affairs Act. Provides that the Department may make grants to employees of veterans medical facilities for the purpose of obtaining a professional degree or certification. Requires that an employee's application for a grant be approved by the facility at which he or she is employed. Provides that, as a condition of receiving a grant, an employee must agree to continue his or her employment at the facility for 4 years after successfully completing the degree or certification program. Effective immediately.

    AN ACT concerning State government.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Department of Veterans Affairs Act is 
5
amended  by adding Section 2.08 as follows:

    (20 ILCS 2805/2.08  new)

    Sec. 2.08. Education grants for employees of veterans 
8
medical facilities. The Department may make grants to employees 
9
of veterans medical facilities for the purpose of obtaining a 
10
professional degree or certification. The Department shall 
11
prescribe the form and manner of applying for a grant. An 
12
employee's application for a grant must be approved by the 
13
facility at which he or she is employed before it may be 
14
approved by the Department. As a condition of receiving a 
15
grant, an employee must agree to continue his or her employment 
16
at the facility for 4 years after successfully completing the 
17
degree or certification program.

    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon 
19
becoming law.
