SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of John W. Mitchell of Decatur, who passed 
4
away on November 17, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, John W. Mitchell was born July 6, 1924, in 
6
Decatur, the son of William and Alberta Mitchell; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, He enlisted in the United States Army Corp of 
8
Engineers in 1942 and released in 1945; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, John graduated from the University of Colorado in 
10
Boulder in 1950; he served as Vice President of A&E, an 
11
engineering firm in Decatur; John married Angela Edwards in 
12
1951 and had three children, Michele, Bill, and Michael; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, John was a man of few words, but when he spoke 
14
people listened; he was a man of great character and integrity 
15
and he will be missed; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, John W. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 57 
17
years, Angela; his children, Michele (Joe) Kearney; Illinois 
18
State Representative Bill Mitchell; and Michael Mitchell; his 
19
grandson, Jack Kearney; his brother, Bob Mitchell; and his 
20
granddogs, Sophie and Pat Kearney; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
2
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
3
his family and friends, the passing of John W. Mitchell; and be 
4
it further

 
5
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6
presented to the family of John W. Mitchell as a symbol of our 
7
sincere sympathy.
