| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Cherie Mazzone of Alton, who passed away |
| 4 |
| on September 28, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born in Cleveland in 1933, the daughter of |
| 6 |
| Ruth and Gordon Greenfield; she grew up in Brecksville, Ohio, |
| 7 |
| and was an active participant in school activities; she played |
| 8 |
| the clarinet in the school band and the violin in the school |
| 9 |
| orchestra; she was active in sports and earned a Red Cross Life |
| 10 |
| Saving certificate, which enabled her to teach swimming; and |
| 11 |
| she was a very good dancer; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, She graduated from Principia College in Elsah in |
| 13 |
| 1955 with a teaching degree in secondary education and began |
| 14 |
| teaching in Elmhurst; while in Elmhurst, she met her husband, |
| 15 |
| Philip Mazzone, and they were married in 1957; in 1964, they |
| 16 |
| adopted their first child, Cara, and in 1967, they adopted |
| 17 |
| their second child, Peter; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, She was an active member of the First Church of |
| 19 |
| Christ Scientist of Alton-Godfrey; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, She will be missed by her family, friends, and |
| 21 |
| neighbors, who knew her for her friendliness, joy, good humor, |
