SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Richard Rita of Port Charlotte, Florida, 
4
formerly of Blue Island, who passed away on July 13, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Richard Rita was born October 1, 1953; he was a 
6
graduate of Marist High School and attended Moraine Valley 
7
Community College; he also attended the American Conservatory 
8
of Music and studied percussion; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, He was invited to play with Ramsey Lewis and his 
10
band; he tried out for the Chicago Symphony; and he traveled 
11
the Midwest with a soul band, a jazz band, and a pop band over 
12
the years; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, He was a probation officer in Cook County from 
14
1983 to 1988 and worked with the Florida Department of 
15
Corrections from 1988 to 2008; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, He was a member of the Knights of Columbus; he was 
17
a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and 
18
served as an Eucharistic minister and helped with the youth 
19
ministry; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, The passing of Richard Rita will be deeply felt by

his wife of 23 years, Kathy; his children, Richard, Kristen, 
2
and Kelly; his parents, John D. and Rose V. Rita; his sister, 
3
Nancy Rita McDaniel; his brothers, John Rita, Jr. and Illinois 
4
State Representative Robert "Bob" Rita; therefore, be it

 
5
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
6
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
7
his family and friends, the passing of Richard Rita; and be it 
8
further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to the family of Richard Rita as an expression of our 
11
sympathy.
