SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
James L. Ellis of North Chicago, who 
4
passed away on July 7, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, James L. Ellis was born on March 3, 1947 in 
6
Shawneetown; his parents were Hobart Ellis, Sr. and Lucille 
7
(Rice) Ellis; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, James L. Ellis served with pride and distinction 
9
as a member of the United States Marine Corps, receiving the 
10
National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam 
11
Campaign Medal, and two Purple Heart Medals; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, James L. Ellis had a devoted career as the Fifth 
13
Ward Alderman for the City of North Chicago, serving on several 
14
committees; he also served as business owner of the Valero Gas 
15
Station in North Chicago; and
 
16
    WHEREAS, James L. Ellis found peace and enjoyment in 
17
gardening, hunting, and fishing, yet always made his family the 
18
highest priority; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, James L. Ellis was preceded in death by his 
20
parents, Hobart Ellis, Sr. and Lucille Ellis, and his brothers,

Hobart Ellis, Jr., Eugene Ellis, and Ben Ellis; and

 
2
    WHEREAS, James L. Ellis is survived by his wife of 40 
3
years, Carol; his sons, Andrew (Lisa) and Robert (Shena); his 
4
sister, Violet L. Staples; his brother, David (Loretta); his 
5
sister-in-law, Evelyn Ellis; his grandchildren, Auriel, 
6
Khadijah, Amani, Damien, Ashley, Robert, Jr., Jovonte, and 
7
Andrew; and his many other relatives and dear friends; 
8
therefore, be it

 
9
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
10
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
11
his family and friends, the passing of James L. Ellis; and be 
12
it further

 
13
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14
presented to the family of James L. Ellis as an expression of 
15
our sympathy.
