| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Jesse C. Bankston, Jr. of Waukegan, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on June 10, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on January 20, 1944 in Waukegan and |
| 6 |
| attended North Chicago public schools, where he excelled in |
| 7 |
| athletics and received varsity letters in track, football, and |
| 8 |
| basketball; after receiving an athletic scholarship he |
| 9 |
| attended Yankton College in South Dakota, receiving his B.A. |
| 10 |
| and All-American football honors as a fullback; he was inducted |
| 11 |
| into the Yankton College Sports Hall of Fame in 2006; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, He taught and coached at North Chicago High School |
| 13 |
| after college; he later entered the insurance field, working |
| 14 |
| for Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois, where he retired as a |
| 15 |
| corporate officer after 35 years of service; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse |
| 17 |
| Bankston, Sr., and Minnie (Branch) Bankston; and his siblings, |
| 18 |
| Frederick Carl Bankston and Shirley Alemu; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Jesse Bankston is survived by his wife, Zora |
| 20 |
| (Pace); his son, Keith and daughter-in-law, Katheryn |
| 21 |
| (Culbertson); his grandchildren, Reese and Jonathan Bankston; |
