| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Joseph Dunn of Chatham, who passed away |
| 4 |
| on July 4, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Joseph Dunn was born on March 27, 1953; his |
| 6 |
| parents were Ernest Benjamin and Johanna Mifflin Dunn; he |
| 7 |
| married Tempa Aldridge on April 30, 1977; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Joseph Dunn graduated from Newman High School in |
| 9 |
| 1971; he served as the Student Senate speaker at Eastern |
| 10 |
| Illinois University, where he graduated with a bachelor's |
| 11 |
| degree in political science in 1975; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Joseph Dunn served as the downstate director for |
| 13 |
| U.S. Senator Paul Simon; he recently served as the director for |
| 14 |
| the Illinois Coalition for Community Services (ICCS), where he |
| 15 |
| worked tirelessly to better the lives of people living in |
| 16 |
| poverty by changing public policy and providing creative |
| 17 |
| community solutions; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Joseph Dunn was active in the First Church of the |
| 19 |
| Brethren, where he served as the church board chairman and lead |
| 20 |
| adult at the Sunday School; and |
|
|

| WHEREAS, Joseph Dunn loved his hosta garden; his yard was |
| 2 |
| described as a tranquil haven; and |
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, Joseph Dunn was preceded in death by his mother; |
| 4 |
| and |
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Joseph Dunn is survived by his wife, Tempa; his |
| 6 |
| daughters, Abby Dunn (companion, Ryan Oberholtzer) and Katie |
| 7 |
| Dunn; his grandchildren, Norah Grace and Rowan Oberholtzer; his |
| 8 |
| father; his brother, Tom (wife, Elaine) Dunn; his grandmother, |
| 9 |
| Thelma Mifflin; his father-in-law, Tom Aldridge; his |
| 10 |
| sister-in-law, Lucretia Stoelzle; his niece, Lauren Stoelzle; |
| 11 |
| and his nephews, Aaron (wife, Michelle) Dunn and Kyle (wife, |
| 12 |
| Stacey) Dunn; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |
| 14 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 15 |
| his family and friends, the death of Joseph Dunn; and be it |
| 16 |
| further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 |
| presented to the family of Joseph Dunn as an expression of our |
| 19 |
| sympathy.
