SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edwina Froehlich of Inverness, who passed away on June 8, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Edwina Froehlich was the co-founder of La Leche League International, the breastfeeding support group; the group was founded in Franklin Park in 1956 to discuss breastfeeding issues among women; the group is in every U.S. state and in 68 different countries; and

WHEREAS, Edwina Froehlich was a member of the Board of Director and served as Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice-Chairman of the group over the years; she worked at La Leche International from 1956 until her retirement in 1983 as the Executive Secretary; and

WHEREAS, She was born on January 5, 1915 in Bronx, New York; she attended Mundelein College in Chicago; she married John Francis Froehlich and together they had three children; and

WHEREAS, She is preceded in death by her husband; and

WHEREAS, Edwina Froehlich is survived by her sons, Paul, David, and Peter; her three daughters-in-law; and her nine grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Edwina Froehlich; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edwina Froehlich as a symbol of our sympathy.
