SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Fred P. Swagerty of North Chicago, who passed away on March 22, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Fred P. Swagerty was born March 31, 1934 in Newport, Tennessee, to the late Herbert and Lillie Swagerty; Fred accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age; the highlight of Fred Swagerty's life was when he was joined in holy matrimony on October 1, 1956 to his adoring wife, Hilda; and

WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army during peace time and was employed at the Veterans Administration Hospital in North Chicago, from which he retired after 30 years of employment; he was also employed at the Shell service station in Deerfield; and

WHEREAS, Fred's hobbies included playing golf and bowling; he received many awards for his passion for golf and bowling; Fred was also a past Exalted Ruler of the Little Fort Elks Lodge 1390 in North Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Fred P. Swagerty was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Lillie Swagerty; his brothers, William "June" (Sally) Swagerty, Charles (Cheola) Swagerty, and Gene Swagerty; and his sister, Mary Davis Woods; and

WHEREAS, Fred Swagerty leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful wife of 52 years, Hilda Swagerty; his sister, Katherine Swagerty; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and many, many friends; Fred will also be dearly missed by his bowling buddies, "The Wolfpack", "The Sunday Night Mixed" bowling league, and the members of the Little Fort Elks Lodge 1390; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Fred P. Swagerty; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Fred P. Swagerty as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
