SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Dorothy R. (McConnell) Harris of Alton, 
4
who passed away on April 7, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Dorothy Harris was born on January 28, 1916 in 
6
Gillespie; she was the daughter of the late John and Julia 
7
(Gatton) McConnell; she married James G. Harris Sr. on February 
8
18, 1939 in Alton; he passed away on December 26, 1996; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Dorothy Harris spent her life devoted to her 
10
loving family; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Dorothy Harris was preceded in death by her 
12
parents; her husband; her brother, John E. McConnell; her 
13
sisters, Elizabeth Henderson, Margaret Barrett, Mary Chesus, 
14
and Dolores Peipert; her son-in-law, Paul Moginot; and her 
15
grandsons, Christopher Voss and Steven Moginot; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Dorothy Harris is survived by her sons and their 
17
spouses, James G. Harris Jr. and Phyllis Ax, Jonathan G. and 
18
Jackie Harris, and Mark J. and Linda Harris; her daughters and 
19
their spouses, Rita and Jim Voss, Julie and Gene Peyton, Chris 
20
and Dick Alford, Pam and Peter McFarlane, Monica Harris, Mary 
21
Pat and Scott Darr, Janet and Tom Kane, and Cindy and Mike

Slaughter; her 38 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren;

her four great-great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Mildred

(Billye) Walker, Theresa Barrett, and Betty Yenny; therefore,

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
6
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
7
her family and friends, the passing of Dorothy Harris; and be 
8
it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to the family of Dorothy Harris as an expression of 
11
our sympathy.
