SENATE RESOLUTION


 
2
    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Linda Carolyn Sims of Chicago, who passed 
4
away on April 3, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, She was born on May 7, 1950 to Lillian and Harry 
6
Sims; she accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a 
7
devout Christian her entire life; she became an ordained 
8
Minister in 1987; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, She loved to sing and excelled in music while 
10
attending Hyde Park High School; she loved opera, and earned a 
11
scholarship in music to Roosevelt University; and

 
12
    WHEREAS, Linda gave her hand in marriage to Fulton M. Nealy 
13
and together they had four beautiful children; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry 
15
Sims and Lillian Collins; her stepfather, Robert Collins; and 
16
her granddaughter, Kiera Jackson; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Nealy and 
18
Pnakara Nealy; her sons, Fulton Dominic Nealy and Michael 
19
Nealy; her brother, Larry A. Sims; her sisters, Dianne Gilder, 
20
State Senator Jacqueline Collins, Phyllis Collins, and Barbara

Collins; her seven grandchildren; her great-grandchild; and 
2
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

 
3
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
4
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
5
her family and friends, the passing of Linda Carolyn Sims; and 
6
be it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the family of Linda Carolyn Sims as a symbol of 
9
our sincere sympathy.
