| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of
James A. Murphy, formerly of Geneva and |
| 4 |
| West Chicago, who passed away on March 11, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, James A. Murphy was born on February 28, 1928 in |
| 6 |
| Aurora; he was the son of John A. and Florence (Reiser) Murphy; |
| 7 |
| he married Marlene Johnson in 1954 during a ceremony at St. |
| 8 |
| Peter's Catholic Church in Geneva; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, James A. Murphy served during in the United States |
| 10 |
| Army during the Korean Conflict as a member of the 45th Signal |
| 11 |
| Division; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, James A. Murphy was an active local volunteer with |
| 13 |
| the American Legion Post 300 in West Chicago and had served as |
| 14 |
| a past commander; he was also a member of the Phoenix Club in |
| 15 |
| Aurora; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, James A. Murphy served his community as a member |
| 17 |
| of the West Chicago School Board and as an Alderman in West |
| 18 |
| Chicago; he was also a trustee on the Kane County Regional |
| 19 |
| Board of Schools; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, James A. Murphy was preceded in death by his |
