SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William Joseph "Bill" Lamont of West Frankfort, who passed away December 1, 2007; and

WHEREAS, He was born July 4, 1939 in Franklin County to Pinckney and Dorothy (Holbrook) Lamont; he married Joyce (Thomas) Lamont on July 10, 1960 in West Frankfort; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Lamont was a member of the Caldwell Baptist Church and had served his country in the United States Navy; he graduated from Frankfort Community High School in 1957; and

WHEREAS, He was a former route driver for Colonial Bread and Hostess Cake Companies for many years before becoming the owner and operator along with his wife Joyce of the Benton Save-A-Lot Grocery Store; after becoming semi-retired he enjoyed operating his dirt hauling business; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, by his sister, Patty Davis, and by his aunt, Vernice Bertagna; and

WHEREAS, William Lamont is survived by his wife Joyce; his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Cathy Lamont; his grandchildren, Brent and Andy Lamont; his brothers-in-law, Aaron and Joyce Thomas, Chester and Joyce Thomas, and Danny and Shirley Thomas; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his aunt, Margaret Lamont; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of William Joseph "Bill" Lamont; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Lamont as a symbol of our sympathy.
