SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
Mary L. Sowerby of Thayer, who passed 
4
away on March 3, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Mary L. Sowerby was born on April 23, 1914 in 
6
Thayer; she was the daughter of John G. and Anna M. Cibulka 
7
Gazda; she married George H. Sowerby on June 4, 1938 in Virden; 
8
and

 
9
    WHEREAS, Mary L. Sowerby was a former waitress at Maggie's 
10
Restaurant in Thayer; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Mary L. Sowerby was a member of Sacred Heart 
12
Church in Virden; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Mary L. Sowerby was preceded in death by her 
14
parents; her husband; her daughter, Joyce Lee Sowerby; her 
15
sisters, Ann Giese and Lillian Gazda; and her brother, John 
16
Gazda; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Mary L. Sowerby is survived by her daughter, Linda 
18
Mae Miller; her brother, Louis C. Gazda; her sister, Lucille 
19
Spring; her two grandsons; her great-granddaughter; and her 
20
many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL

ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with

her family and friends, the passing of Mary L. Sowerby; and be 
4
it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6
presented to the family of Mary L. Sowerby as an expression of 
7
our sympathy.
