| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate were saddened |
| 3 |
| to learn of the death of William "Bill" Horman of Hardin, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on January 24, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, William Horman served as a member of the United |
| 6 |
| States Army's 82nd Airborne Division during World War II and |
| 7 |
| fought with valor during the Battle of the Bulge; in |
| 8 |
| recognition of his service, he was entitled to receive the |
| 9 |
| Bronze Star Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the European Theatre |
| 10 |
| Campaign Medal with one bronze service star, the Combat |
| 11 |
| Infantryman Badge first award, the Honorable Service lapel |
| 12 |
| button World War II, and the Marksman's badge bars for the |
| 13 |
| rifle and automatic rifle; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, William Horman was a well-known barber at Horman's |
| 15 |
| Barbershop in the Village of Hardin, serving its residents for |
| 16 |
| 58 years until his retirement in December of 2006; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, William Horman served as a trustee for the Village |
| 18 |
| of Hardin from 1952 until 1974, when he was elected to serve as |
| 19 |
| Mayor of Hardin; he served with distinction as Mayor of Hardin |
| 20 |
| from 1974 until his passing; the citizens of Hardin will |
| 21 |
| remember him fondly for his approachable style of governance, |
| 22 |
