SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of Ernest A. Tosovsky Jr., of Edwardsville, 
4
who passed away January 18, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Ernest A. Tosovsky Jr. was born October 31, 1921, 
6
in Edwardsville to Ernest and Mary Meek Tosovsky Sr.; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, He married Betty Faye Rohrkaste on August 29, 1946 
8
and she passed away on September 14, 1983; he later married 
9
Virginia Lee Hermann on September 1, 1984 and she passed away 
10
on June 9, 2000; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, He was the former president and chairman of the 
12
board of Home Nursery Inc.; he was past president of the 
13
Illinois State Nurseryman Association, American Landscape 
14
Nursery Association, and Madison-Sinclair Nursery Association; 
15
he was a member of the board of directors of the Voluntary 
16
Purchasing Group, and a member of the Greater St. Louis Nursery 
17
and Landscape Association; the Voluntary Purchasing Group 
18
established an endowment fund for him with the Horticultural 
19
Research Institute; and

 
20
    WHEREAS, He was past president of the Edwardsville Rotary 
21
Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, a member of the board of

directors of the Edwardsville YWCA, a member of the Illinois 
2
State Florists Association, and the Edwardsville Glen Carbon 
3
Chamber of Commerce; he was chairman of the Edwardsville Park 
4
and Recreation Board, served on the advisory board for the Dean 
5
of Agriculture at the University of Illinois, was chairman of 
6
the Agricultural Nursery and Greenhouse Advisory Committee for 
7
the American Farm Bureau Federation, and served on the 
8
Edwardsville School Board; he was a member of St. Mary's 
9
Catholic Church and St. Boniface Catholic Church in 
10
Edwardsville; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, Ernest Tosovsky Jr. was preceded in death by his 
12
wives; his parents; one brother, Edward Tosovsky; and one 
13
sister, Dorothy Donner; and
 
14
    WHEREAS, Ernest Tosovsky Jr. is survived by his son, 
15
Timothy Tosovsky and wife, Sherry; his stepson, Bill Hermann; 
16
his daughters, Nancy Pech and husband, Gene, and Barbara Wiman 
17
and husband, Fred; his stepdaughters, Janice Burklow, and Cindy 
18
Hoog and husband, Ed; his grandchildren, Eric Wiman, Aaron 
19
Wiman, Andrea Garner, Luke Wiman, Molly Wiman, and Amanda 
20
Wiman, Danielle Pech and Michael Pech, and Tim and Taylor 
21
Tosovsky; his eleven great-grandchildren; his six 
22
stepgreat-grandchildren; and his brother, Charles Tosovsky and 
23
wife, Jean; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
2
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
3
his family and friends, the passing of Ernest Tosovsky Jr.; and 
4
be it further

 
5
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6
presented to the family of Ernest Tosovsky Jr. as a symbol of 
7
our sincere sympathy.
