| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to   | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of
Frederick H. Uhlig of Chillicothe, who  | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on January 13, 2008; and
 | ||||||
| 5 |     WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig was born on December 30, 1946 in  | ||||||
| 6 | Peoria; he was the son of Henry "Pop" and Ruth (McDowell)  | ||||||
| 7 | Uhlig; and
 | ||||||
| 8 |     WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig was a 1964 graduate of Richwoods  | ||||||
| 9 | High School in Peoria; after graduation, he enlisted in the  | ||||||
| 10 | United States Marine Corps in June 1964; he served in the  | ||||||
| 11 | Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968; and
 | ||||||
| 12 |     WHEREAS, In 1970, Frederick Uhlig graduated from Sangamon  | ||||||
| 13 | State College in Springfield with a degree in Political  | ||||||
| 14 | Science, which led him into a career with the State of  | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois, where he served as a legislative liaison, the deputy  | ||||||
| 16 | director of the Department of Transportation, and deputy  | ||||||
| 17 | director of the Department of Public Health; he later obtained  | ||||||
| 18 | his M.B.A. from Harvard University; he worked as a regional  | ||||||
| 19 | health officer for the Illinois Department of Public Health at  | ||||||
| 20 | the time of his passing; and
 | ||||||
| 21 |     WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig served as a political adviser to  | ||||||
|

 | |||||||
| 1 | several local and statewide political officials; he served on  | ||||||
| 2 | the Chillicothe School Board from 1999 until 2003; and
 | ||||||
| 3 |     WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig was a member of the Chillicothe  | ||||||
| 4 | Optimist Club and was active in the Chillicothe Summer Theater,  | ||||||
| 5 | where he served as director for several productions; and | ||||||
| 6 |     WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig enjoyed playing his guitar for a  | ||||||
| 7 | band called the Redneck Mothers; he also took enjoyment in  | ||||||
| 8 | restoring and rebuilding British MGs; he loved New Orleans,  | ||||||
| 9 | Jimmy Buffett, karaoke, and being with friends; and
 | ||||||
| 10 |     WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig was preceded in death by his  | ||||||
| 11 | parents; and | ||||||
| 12 |     WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig is survived by his son, Brent  | ||||||
| 13 | Uhlig; his half brothers, William Diez and Charles Diez; his  | ||||||
| 14 | half sister, Beverly; his cousin, Susan Uhlig; and his special  | ||||||
| 15 | friend, Susan Coffman; therefore, be it
 | ||||||
| 16 |     RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL  | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with  | ||||||
| 18 | his family and friends, the passing of Frederick H. Uhlig; and  | ||||||
| 19 | be it further
 | ||||||
| 20 |     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be  | ||||||
