SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to  
3
learn of the death of
John W. Phillip of Hinsdale, who passed 
4
away on October 8, 2007; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, John W. Phillip was born on June 25, 1942 in 
6
Berwyn; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, John W. Phillip was a retired United States Navy 
8
captain who served in the Vietnam War; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, John W. Phillip was the former owner of Phillip's 
10
Shoe Store in Berwyn; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, John W. Phillip was a discussion leader in Bible 
12
study fellowship at his church; he also taught Bible study at 
13
the Cook County jail; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, John W. Phillip is survived by his wife, Susan, 
15
nee Bendelow, Phillip; his children, Jennifer (Joel) 
16
Hutchinson, Matthew, Michael, and Mark; his brothers, George 
17
(Judy) Phillip and Allen (Kathy) Phillip; and his sister, Marie 
18
(Terry) Mann; and
 
19
    WHEREAS, John W. Phillip will be remembered by all who knew

and loved him as a  devoted family man who was attentive to the 
2
needs of the Christian community; therefore, be it

 
3
    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
4
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
5
his family and friends, the passing of John W. Phillip; and be 
6
it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the family of John W. Phillip as an expression of 
9
our sympathy.
