| SENATE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Roy Fair of Sugar Grove, who passed away |
| 4 |
| on September 30, 2007; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Roy Fair was born July 11, 1935, in Myrtle, |
| 6 |
| Mississippi, the son of Sybil Fair (nee Aston) and the late Roy |
| 7 |
| Fair Sr.; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Roy Fair was in the real estate business, |
| 9 |
| beginning in 1959; he started his own company in Aurora in |
| 10 |
| 1963, and achieved a 60% market share in the Aurora market |
| 11 |
| under the Fair & Company flag; he maintained offices in |
| 12 |
| Yorkville, Geneva, Montgomery, Naperville, and Aurora during |
| 13 |
| those years; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He served on the Aurora Board of Realtors for many |
| 15 |
| years, becoming its president in 1968 and eventually serving as |
| 16 |
| president of the Illinois Association of Realtors in 1980; Mr. |
| 17 |
| Fair continued to serve the association at all three levels and |
| 18 |
| had finished his 22nd year as a director of the National |
| 19 |
| Association of Realtors; he was awarded the highest honor of |
| 20 |
| the association by being named Realtor of the Year by the |
| 21 |
| Aurora Association in 1973, and Realtor of the Year by the |
| 22 |
| Illinois State Association in 1982; in 2003, he was awarded the |
|

| coveted Hall of Fame Award from the Aurora Tri-County |
| 2 |
| Association of Realtors for his continuing dedication and |
| 3 |
| service to the industry; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, As chairman of the National Legislative |
| 5 |
| Committee, Mr. Fair was instrumental in securing legislation to |
| 6 |
| allow the FHA interest rate to float with the market; during |
| 7 |
| his years in the business he built over 400 homes in the Aurora |
| 8 |
| area, purchased, rehabbed, and financed over 100 low and |
| 9 |
| moderate income houses, trained hundreds of real estate agents |
| 10 |
| in the sales end of the business, and developed and managed |
| 11 |
| numerous real estate investments; he carried the prestigious |
| 12 |
| Realtor designation of Certified Residential Broker; he served |
| 13 |
| as chairman of the South Kane County American Cancer Crusade, |
| 14 |
| chairman of the Downtown Aurora Committee of the Aurora Chamber |
| 15 |
| of Commerce, director of the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, and on |
| 16 |
| Governor Thompson's Task Force on Home Ownership; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Roy Fair is survived by his wife, Sue |
| 18 |
| Wiskowski-Fair; his sons, Mike (Laurie) Fair, Terry (Cindy) |
| 19 |
| Fair, and David (Debbie) Fair; his twelve grandchildren, Sandy |
| 20 |
| (Bob) Cary, Susan (Mark) Alsip, Samantha (George) Pilgrim, |
| 21 |
| Garett Fair, Derek Fair, Jared Fair, Shana Fair, Richard Fair, |
| 22 |
| John (Stacy) Fair, Andrea Fair, James Fair, and Selena Hensley; |
| 23 |
| his twelve great-grandchildren; his mother, Sybil Fair; his |
| 24 |
| sisters, Doris (Fred) Moore, and Ann Louise (Sonny) Churchill; |

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL |

| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with |
| 4 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Roy Fair; and be it |
| 5 |
| further
|
| 6 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 |
| presented to the family of Roy Fair as a symbol of our |
| 8 |
| sympathy.
