| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Granville "Mac" Warfield of Granite City, |
| 4 |
| who passed away on August 21, 2007; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Granville Warfield was born July 17, 1931 in |
| 6 |
| Granite City; he was known to most people as "Mac"; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Mac Warfield was a member of St. John Lutheran |
| 8 |
| Church, and affiliated with numerous civic organizations; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mac Warfield first was elected to serve as Granite |
| 10 |
| City alderman in 1979; he also was superintendent of streets, a |
| 11 |
| position he held until 1991; he was re-appointed as alderman in |
| 12 |
| 1994 and in 1995 won a bid for re-election; he resigned in 1996 |
| 13 |
| after winning a bid for election to serve as a member of the |
| 14 |
| Madison County Board; he was hired by the Metro East Sanitary |
| 15 |
| District in 1998, and resigned as a member of the County Board; |
| 16 |
| then Mayor of Granite City Ron Selph re-appointed him to serve |
| 17 |
| on the Granite City Council and he won re-election in 1999, |
| 18 |
| 2001, and 2005; he was also a precinct committeeman, a retired |
| 19 |
| steelworker from Granite City Steel, and most recently served |
| 20 |
| as 6th Ward alderman for Granite City; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Mac Warfield was the leader of the Democratic |
