SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marian L. Klein of Bethalto, who passed away on July 1, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Marian L. Klein was born on November 12, 1912, the daughter of James M. and Julia (Hentz) Broderick; she married Robert "Bob" Klein on August 3, 1939, in Edwardsville; and

WHEREAS, Marian Klein and her husband owned and operated Klein's Drug Store for several years until retiring in 1998; she was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, and she was also a member of Legion of Mary, past regent of the Daughters of Isabella, first president of the Bethalto Women's Club, member of the Rotary Anns, and served as Deputy Clerk of the Madison County Clerk's Office, issuing many marriage licenses from her home; and

WHEREAS, Marian Klein was an election judge and staunch Democrat; she was a graduate of Marquette High School in Alton, and took business classes at Ursuline Convent; and

WHEREAS, Marian Klein was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; and her three brothers, Marshall, Mike, and Jack Broderick; and

WHEREAS, Marian Klein is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, MaryAnn and Gene Magac, and Martha and Dan Smith; her grandchildren, Nicholas Smith and his wife, Alyssa, and Corey Smith; her sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and Quinten Eihausen; her sister-in-law, Georgia Broderick; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Marian L. Klein; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marian L. Klein as a symbol of our sympathy.
