| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Marian L. Klein of Bethalto, who passed |
| 4 |
| away on July 1, 2007; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Marian L. Klein was born on November 12, 1912, the |
| 6 |
| daughter of James M. and Julia (Hentz) Broderick; she married |
| 7 |
| Robert "Bob" Klein on August 3, 1939, in Edwardsville; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Marian Klein and her husband owned and operated |
| 9 |
| Klein's Drug Store for several years until retiring in 1998; |
| 10 |
| she was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in |
| 11 |
| Bethalto, and she was also a member of Legion of Mary, past |
| 12 |
| regent of the Daughters of Isabella, first president of the |
| 13 |
| Bethalto Women's Club, member of the Rotary Anns, and served as |
| 14 |
| Deputy Clerk of the Madison County Clerk's Office, issuing many |
| 15 |
| marriage licenses from her home; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Marian Klein was an election judge and staunch |
| 17 |
| Democrat; she was a graduate of Marquette High School in Alton, |
| 18 |
| and took business classes at Ursuline Convent; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, Marian Klein was preceded in death by her husband, |
| 20 |
| Robert; her parents; and her three brothers, Marshall, Mike, |
| 21 |
| and Jack Broderick; and
