| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 |
| learn of the death of Charles Alan Swetland of Vandalia, who |
| 4 |
| passed away on April 19, 2007; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was born September 8, 1940 in |
| 6 |
| Fillmore; his parents were Roy and Ruth (McDonough) Swetland; |
| 7 |
| and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Swetland and Hope Traylor were married on |
| 9 |
| October 28, 1965 in Mt. Vernon; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was a graduate of Ramsey High |
| 11 |
| School; he worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections at |
| 12 |
| the State of Illinois Corrections Center for 26 years; and he |
| 13 |
| was CEO of Swetland Supply and Swetland Internet; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was a member of the Optimist |
| 15 |
| Club, the Vandalia and Fillmore Masonic Lodge, the Ansar |
| 16 |
| Shrine, Scottish Rite in St. Louis; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Charles Swetland was a champion of the "underdogs" |
| 18 |
| in the community, helping people receive assistance, food, and |
| 19 |
| jobs; he worked to get people on the right track in Vandalia |
| 20 |
| and was always available with his time and talents; and |
