SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gary L. Roan of West Frankfort, who passed away on April 8, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Gary Roan was born on December 29, 1945, in Louisiana, Missouri to Henry Roan and Wilma (Smashey) Roan; he married Debra (Ozment) Roan on July 24, 1982; and

WHEREAS, Gary Roan spent his youth in Missouri, moving to Southern Illinois in 1967; he served an apprenticeship as a wireman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 702, becoming a journeyman wireman on October 4, 1973 and worked for various area contractors; in 1975, Gary became business representative for IBEW Local 702; he was business manager of IBEW Local 702 from 1994 until his retirement in July of 2006; and

WHEREAS, He is survived by his wife, Debra Roan; his sons, James Scott Roan and wife, Jennifer, and Hank Roan; his daughter, Alisha Newton and husband, Josh; his grandsons, Robert Tyler Roan and Tanner Roan; his granddaughters, Rachel and Katie Roan; his great-granddaughter, Riley Roan; his brothers, Richard Roan and wife, Patricia, and Clayton Roan and wife, Terri; his mother-in-law, Peggy Stephens; his brother-in-law, the Rev. Alan Ozment and wife, Melody; his several nieces and nephews; and his special cousin, Billy Burbridge and wife, Lanora; he was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Stanley F. Roan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Gary L. Roan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Gary L. Roan as an expression of our sympathy.
