SENATE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3
learn of the death of David T. Murphy of Cary, who passed away 
4
on March 5, 2007; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, David Murphy was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on 
6
July 6, 1929; his parents were Thomas and Elisabeth Murphy; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, David Murphy was past president of the McHenry 
8
County College Board of Trustees and a trustee from 1976 
9
through 2005; a member of the Illinois Community College 
10
Trustees Association; a past chairman of the Board of 
11
Regents-State of Illinois from 1991 to 1996; and a past 
12
president of the Lake County Council on Alcoholism; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, David Murphy was a Lake Forest Academy alumnus and 
14
a Brown University alumnus; he was known statewide as an 
15
advocate of higher education; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, David Murphy was preceded in death by his wife, 
17
Constance B. Murphy; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, David Murphy is survived by his children, Karen 
19
(David) Garrett, Elizabeth (Peter) Stamos, and Robert (Debra) 
20
Murphy; and  his grandchildren, George Stamos, Lauren Stamos,

    RESOLVED, BY THE  SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL 
4
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with 
5
his family and friends, the passing of David T. Murphy; and be 
6
it further

 
7
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the family of David T. Murphy as a symbol of our 
9
sympathy.
