| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
| 3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Eddie |
| 4 |
| Stewart who passed away on December 6, 2006; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Eddie Stewart was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on |
| 6 |
| September 9, 1917; his parents were George Stewart and Virena |
| 7 |
| Smith; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, In 1949 Eddie Stewart and Nancy Stewart were |
| 9 |
| married in New Orleans, Louisiana; upon moving to Chicago, |
| 10 |
| Eddie Stewart worked for the A to Z equipment Company as the |
| 11 |
| parts and service manager until his retirement; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Eddie Stewart played baseball for the Negro |
| 13 |
| Baseball League with the Kansas City Monarchs; his love of the |
| 14 |
| game was passed down to his son, Gerald, and was evident in the |
| 15 |
| baseball cap that Mr. Stewart always wore; he is remembered for |
| 16 |
| supporting and cheering for the team and providing food for the |
| 17 |
| players regardless of the outcome of the game; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Eddie Stewart loved baseball and more baseball, |
| 19 |
| drumsticks (or "hips"), mashed and sweet potatoes, root beer |
| 20 |
| floats, buddy, his great-granddaughters, and washing his car; |
| 21 |
