| AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1617

| AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1617 as follows:

| on page 2, immediately below line 15, by inserting the |
| 4 |
| following:
|
| 5 |
| "(e) The Department of Agriculture may enter into |
| 6 |
| agreements with a unit of local government under which the unit |
| 7 |
| of local government is authorized to assist the Department in |
| 8 |
| carrying out its duties in a quarantined area, including |
| 9 |
| inspection and eradication of any dangerous insect or dangerous |
| 10 |
| plant disease, and including the transportation, processing, |
| 11 |
| and disposal of diseased material. The Department is authorized |
| 12 |
| to provide compensation or financial assistance to the unit of |
| 13 |
| local government for its costs."; and
|
| 14 |
| on page 2, line 16, by replacing "(e)" with "(f)".
