AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1529

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1529, AS AMENDED,

by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the 
4
following:

    "Section 5. The School Code is amended  by adding Section 
6
13-50 as follows:
 
7
    (105 ILCS 5/13-50 new)

    Sec. 13-50. Contract cancellation; Macon-Piatt Regional 
9
Office of Education. All contracts between the Illinois 
10
Department of Corrections or the Illinois Department of 
11
Juvenile Justice and the Macon-Piatt Regional Office of 
12
Education to provide educational services for the Department of 
13
Corrections or the Department of Juvenile Justice shall be 
14
canceled in accordance with the terms of those contracts. Upon 
15
cancellation, each employee of the Macon-Piatt Regional Office 
16
of Education who had been providing educational services for

the Department of Corrections or the Department of Juvenile 
2
Justice shall be offered certified employment status under the 
3
Personnel Code with the State of Illinois. To the extent that 
4
it is reasonably practicable, unless otherwise agreed to by the 
5
Department of Central Management Services and the collective 
6
bargaining representative, the position offered to each of 
7
these persons shall be at the same facility and shall consist 
8
of the same duties and hours as previously existed under the 
9
canceled contract or contracts.".
