AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1481

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1481 by replacing 
3
line 22 on page 7 through line 8 on page 8 with the following:
4
    "(q) A member who worked as a nurse under a contractual 
5
agreement for the Department of Public Aid or its successor 
6
agency, the Department of Human Services, in the Client 
7
Assessment Unit and was subsequently determined to be a State 
8
employee by the United States Internal Revenue Service and 
9
Illinois Labor Relations Board may establish creditable 
10
service for those contractual services by making the 
11
contributions required under this Section.  The contributions 
12
shall be calculated based upon the compensation received and 
13
the employee contribution rate that was in effect during each 
14
fiscal year that creditable service is being established, plus 
15
interest.  The Department of Human Services shall pay the 
16
employer contribution based on the employer's normal cost of 
17
the benefit, plus interest from the date of service to the date 
18
of payment. To establish credit under this subsection (q), the

applicant must apply to the System by July 1, 2008.

    In compliance with Section 14-152.1, the costs of benefits 
3
provided by this amendatory Act of the 95th General Assembly 
4
are offset by the required employee and employer 
5
contributions."; and

by deleting line 10 on page 8  through line 13 of page 10.
