    AN ACT concerning local government.

    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, 
3
represented in the General Assembly:

    Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing Section 
5
5-1001 as follows:

    (55 ILCS 5/5-1001)  (from Ch. 34, par. 5-1001)

    Sec. 5-1001. Corporate name of county. Each county which 
8
has
been, or may be established in this State, according to
the 
9
laws thereof,
shall be a body politic and corporate, by the 
10
name and style of "The county
of ....," and by that name may 
11
sue and be sued, plead and may be impleaded,
defend and be 
12
defended against in any court having jurisdiction of the
the

13
subject-matter, or other place where justice shall be 
14
administered.
