1 AN ACT concerning education.

2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 represented in the General Assembly:

4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections

5 10-20.40 and 34-18.34 as follows:

6 (105 ILCS 5/10-20.40 new)

7 Sec. 10-20.40. Wind farm. A school district may own and

8 operate a wind generation turbine farm, either individually or

9 jointly, that directly or indirectly reduces the energy or

10 other operating costs of the school district. The school

11 district may ask for the assistance of any State agency,

12 including without limitation the State Board of Education or

13 the Environmental Protection Agency, in obtaining financing

14 options for a wind generation turbine farm.

16 Sec. 34-18.34. Wind farm. The school district may own and

17 operate a wind generation turbine farm, either individually or

18 jointly, that directly or indirectly reduces the energy or

19 other operating costs of the school district. The school

20 district may ask for the assistance of any State agency,

21 including without limitation the State Board of Education or

22 the Environmental Protection Agency, in obtaining financing

2 Section 10. The Public Community College Act is amended by

3 adding Section 3-42.3 as follows:

4 (110 ILCS 805/3-42.3 new)

5 Sec. 3-42.3. Wind farm. To own and operate a wind

6 generation turbine farm, either individually or jointly, that

7 directly or indirectly reduces the energy or other operating

8 costs of the community college district. The board may ask for

9 the assistance of any State agency, including without

10 limitation the State Board or the Environmental Protection

11 Agency, in obtaining financing options for a wind generation

12 turbine farm.

13 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon

14 becoming law.
