HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jerry Bartell on 
4
his retirement as president and CEO of Marine Bank & Trust, 
5
located in Carthage, Hamilton and Augusta; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, He has been in banking for 42 years, serving 18 
7
years at Marine Bank; he is a graduate of the Graduate School 
8
of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin; and he was a founding member 
9
of the Independent Community Banks of Illinois (now, Community 
10
Banking Association of Illinois) and has served as chairman; 
11
and

 
12
    WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army, Counter 
13
Intelligence Corps, and achieved the rank of E6;   he was 
14
stationed in Bangkok, Thailand for most of that service; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, He has served in many volunteer leadership 
16
capacities, including serving as president of the Carthage 
17
Kiwanis Club, president of the Carthage Lions Club, and 
18
co-chair of the Adams County United Way committee; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, He was named an Outstanding Young Man of America 
20
in 1980; and

    WHEREAS, Jerry and his wife, Linley, plan to continue to 
2
reside in Carthage, volunteering and working in the community, 
3
in addition to visiting with their new grandson in Palatine; 
4
therefore, be it

 
5
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
congratulate Jerry Bartell on his retirement and wish him the 
8
best in his future endeavors; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to Jerry Bartell as a symbol of our respect and 
11
esteem.
