HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the lady members of the Central Catholic High School Women's Cross Country Team on their 2008 cross country season under the direction of Head Coach Tom Engelhorn and assistant coaches Emily Dewald, Melissa McNeil, and Seanan AlYasiri; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Saints began their season by placing second out of five teams at the Normal Invitational Meet and third in the Peoria Woodruff Invitational out of 23 teams; for the first time in the school's history, the Lady Saints placed first in the Girls Intercity; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Saints went on to become the Champions of the St. Joseph-Ogden Spartan Classic, placing first out of 24 teams; at the Jacksonville Invitational, the Lady Saints were champions by sweeping all seven flighted races; at the University High Invitational, the Lady Saints placed first again out of 12 teams, ending their regular meet season by out-running 76 opposing teams; and

WHEREAS, During the post season, the Lady Saints won their first Regional Title in the sectional meet; the Lady Saints not only won the sectionals, but won the first Sectional Title for Women in Central Catholic High School's history; during the 2008 Illinois High School Association Class A State Championship Meet, the Lady Saints placed 4th and were only 30 points away from a State Championship team victory; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Lady Saints Cross County Team of 2008 on their outstanding season and wish them the best in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the members of the Central Catholic Saints Ladies Cross Country team as a symbol of our respect and congratulations.
