| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Lorraine |
| 4 |
| Fontana, who passed away on September 8, 2008; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Lorraine Fontana was born on June 25, 1948 in |
| 6 |
| Chicago Heights; she graduated from Bloom Township High School |
| 7 |
| in 1966; she then earned her associate's degree in computer |
| 8 |
| science from Prairie State College and her bachelor's degree in |
| 9 |
| information technology from Governors State University; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Lorraine Fontana was employed with AT&T for 30 |
| 11 |
| years; starting her career as an operator in Harvey, she |
| 12 |
| concluded her career as a technical specialist in the billing |
| 13 |
| and network operations department, where she was well regarded |
| 14 |
| for her accomplishments and expertise; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Lorraine Fontana also worked as a tax preparer, |
| 16 |
| performing pro bono work as well as compensatory services; she |
| 17 |
| also taught information technology classes as an adjunct |
| 18 |
| professor at South Suburban College and Prairie State College; |
| 19 |
| and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Lorraine Fontana was an active member in her |
| 21 |
| community; she served in a number of positions at her church, |
|
|

| the Infant Jesus of Prague of Flossmoor; at her church, she |
| 2 |
| served as a Eucharistic Minister at church services and to the |
| 3 |
| sick and domiciled, prepared meals for the homeless, and |
| 4 |
| delivered and donated clothing and food to the needy, among |
| 5 |
| many other activities; she participated as a volunteer in |
| 6 |
| community events such as Flossmoor Fest, the Bloom Township |
| 7 |
| Fund Raisers and Reunions, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Chicago |
| 8 |
| Heights VFW, and local events to raise money for cancer |
| 9 |
| research; she also participated in numerous legislative and |
| 10 |
| local village political campaigns and served as an election |
| 11 |
| judge in her precinct in Flossmoor; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Lorraine Fontana was a committed member of the |
| 13 |
| Hooved Animal Foundation, an organization that cares for the |
| 14 |
| welfare of horses; she actively worked to give horses good |
| 15 |
| homes at children's ranches and various responsible owners; and |
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Lorraine Fontana was a member of the South |
| 17 |
| Suburban Computer Society and the Telephone Pioneers of |
| 18 |
| America; she also served as a fundraiser for the White Sox |
| 19 |
| Charities; and |
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Lorraine Fontana's love of life and ability to |
| 21 |
| live it to the fullest endeared her to her family members, |
| 22 |
| friends, and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their |
| 23 |
| lives in ways they will never forget; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 2 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 3 |
| mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of |
| 4 |
| Lorraine Fontana; and be it further
|
| 5 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 6 |
| presented to the family of Lorraine Fontana as an expression of |
| 7 |
| our sympathy.
