| 1 | | HOUSE RESOLUTION
 |
| 2 | |     WHEREAS, Vasculitis is an inflammation of the blood |
| 3 | | vessels; also called angiitis, vasculitis causes changes in the |
| 4 | | walls of blood vessels, including thickening, weakening, |
| 5 | | narrowing, and scarring; the inflammation from these changes |
| 6 | | can be short-term (acute) or long-term (chronic) and can be so |
| 7 | | severe that the tissues and organs supplied by the affected |
| 8 | | vessels don't receive enough blood; this shortage of blood can |
| 9 | | result in organ and tissue damage, and even death; and
 |
| 10 | |     WHEREAS, Many types of vasculitis exist and, although rare, |
| 11 | | vasculitis can affect anyone; some age groups are affected more |
| 12 | | than others, depending on the type of vasculitis; while some |
| 13 | | forms of vasculitis improve on their own, others require |
| 14 | | treatment, which often includes long-term medication; and
 |
| 15 | |     WHEREAS, Diseases resulting from vasculitis include |
| 16 | | Behcet's disease, Buerger's disease, Central Nervous System, |
| 17 | | Churg Strauss syndrome, Cryoglobulinemia, Giant Cell |
| 18 | | Arteritis, Henoch-Schönlein purpura, Hypersensitivity |
| 19 | | vasculitis, Kawasaki disease, Microscopic Polyangiitis, |
| 20 | | Polyarteritis nodosa, Polymyalgia rheumatica, Rheumatoid |
| 21 | | vasculitis, Takayasu's arteritis, and Wegener's |
| 22 | | Granulomatosis; and
