| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dick "Red" |
| 4 |
| Carparelli of Beverly on his 91st birthday; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, He was born in Harrison, New York; he came from a |
| 6 |
| large Italian family with nine brothers and sisters; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, He began caddying at Rye Country Club and began a |
| 8 |
| long love of golf; he grew up a few blocks away from Gene |
| 9 |
| Sarazen, a legendary golfer; he caddied for the famous people |
| 10 |
| of the times, including Mack Sennett, the director of the |
| 11 |
| Keystone Kops film series; he was a standout athlete in |
| 12 |
| basketball, football, baseball, and hockey while attending |
| 13 |
| Harrison High School; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He worked as an assistant in Boca Raton, Florida |
| 15 |
| with his uncle; he joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and flew |
| 16 |
| missions around the globe; after the war he moved to Chicago |
| 17 |
| where his uncle now lived and worked at the Beverly Country |
| 18 |
| Club; Red began serving the club as a P.G.A. Golf Professional; |
| 19 |
| he served on the MacGregor Golf Staff for over fifty years and |
| 20 |
| was named an Honorary Member of the Beverly Country Club in |
| 21 |
| 1989; and
