| WHEREAS, The Golconda Job Corps Civilian Conservation |
| 3 |
| Center is part of the Job Corps of the United States Department |
| 4 |
| of Labor which prepares young adults, ages 16 through 24, for |
| 5 |
| successful careers through a career training approach which |
| 6 |
| integrates the teaching of academic, vocational, employability |
| 7 |
| skills, and social competencies through a combination of |
| 8 |
| classroom, practical, and vocational learning experiences to |
| 9 |
| prepare youth for stable, long-term, high-paying jobs or |
| 10 |
| further education; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a work |
| 12 |
| relief program for young people from unemployed families, |
| 13 |
| established in March 1933, by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, |
| 14 |
| that enhanced natural resources, managed forests, and built |
| 15 |
| parks and public facilities still in use today; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, Golconda was the site of a National Forest |
| 17 |
| Civilian Conservation Corps camp in 1933; and |
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Although the goals of the Golconda CCC Camp and |
| 19 |
| the Golconda Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center are not |
| 20 |
| identical, both advanced young people by teaching valuable job |
| 21 |
| skills; and |
