HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are saddened to  learn of the death of
U.S. Army 
4
Sergeant Blake W. Evans, who was killed in action in Iraq on 
5
May 25, 2008; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Sgt. Blake Evans graduated from Guilford High 
7
School in Rockford in 2002; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Sgt. Blake Evans served his country with pride and 
9
distinction in the United States Army as an infantryman with 
10
the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; after 
11
joining the  Army in October of 2003, he was sent to  Fort 
12
Campbell in January of 2004, where he was assigned to Delta 
13
Company, 2nd Battalion of the 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st 
14
Brigade Combat Team; his first tour of duty in Iraq began in 
15
the fall of 2005; his second tour began in September of 2007; 
16
and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Sgt. Blake Evans was decorated with a variety of 
18
medals and badges in recognition of his service, including 
19
three Army Achievement Medals, an Army Good Conduct Medal, and 
20
a National Defense Service Medal, among many others; and 
 
21
    WHEREAS, Sgt. Blake Evans is survived by his mother and

stepfather, Craig and Judy Belk; his wife, Shannon; and his 
2
daughters, Kylee and Adriana; and

 
3
    WHEREAS, Sgt. Blake Evans' dedication and selflessness are 
4
worthy of the greatest respect; therefore, be it

 
5
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of U.S. 
8
Army Sergeant Blake W. Evans; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sergeant Blake W. 
10
Evans and  his willingness to serve our country, which led to 
11
him making  the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
12
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13
presented to the family of Sergeant Blake W. Evans as an 
14
expression of our sympathy.
